This certainly breaks my imagination. In my plan of a new Dad's Army Play, Old Shut-Up turns up in Warmington to give assistance to Mainwaring's platoon.
However, he proves to be more of a nuance; he's rude, loud, conceited, scares the living day lights out of everyone in town, over-steps his boundaries and has no respect for Mainwaring on or off duty.
But when he falls for a trap meant for Mainwaring and is captured, but later rescued by the Platoon, both the GHQ Area Commander and Churchill have him shipped off to India...and those who watch the show, know the rest.
